The Charge Nurse plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily clinical operations within a small Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in maintaining high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff coordination. The facility offers a collaborative environment with a consistent team and a predictable schedule.
Monday & Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 or 5:00 PM
Tuesday & Thursday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 or 5:00 PM
Salaried position (hours may vary slightly week to week)
On surgery days, patient volume is typically light (3-4 patients per day); procedure days may have higher patient load
Direct reports: 6 team members (1 Radiology Tech, 1 Surgical Tech, 1 Patient Care Tech, 3 Registered Nurses)
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily nursing operations under the direction of the DON and leadership team
- Supervise clinical staff and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, facility policies, and professional guidelines
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with clinical practice and regulations
- Support safety program initiatives, emergency preparedness, and documentation compliance
- Ensure safe medication management practices, including storage, ordering, and administration
- Provide guidance and leadership to staff, patients, physicians, and visitors, including during urgent or emergency situations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support risk mitigation efforts
- Assist with risk management activities, including root cause analysis of adverse events
- Promote a culture of safety and address patient, visitor, or staff concerns, escalating issues as appropriate
- Support the DON with staff meetings and communication of operational or facility updates
- Perform additional duties as needed to maintain patient safety and efficient facility operations
- Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related or business field
- Management or supervisory experience in a medical setting
- ASC experience preferred but not required
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Highly organized with accurate record‑keeping abilities
- Solid knowledge of clinical practice, regulatory compliance, risk management, and quality improvement
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a professional, accountable approach
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships across the organization
