This role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
. We offer a competitive pay rate based on experience and a $2.00 2nd shift differential.
Training for this role will be on 1st shift hours (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM) for up to the first 3 months before transitioning to your regular 2nd Shift schedule.

An Ink Mixing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring consistent, high quality ink formulations that directly support efficient manufacturing output. By expertly preparing and adjusting inks, this role minimizes production delays and reduces waste caused by color deviations or material inconsistencies. Their work enables smoother press operations and enhances product quality, leading to fewer reworks and improved customer satisfaction. The technician also helps maintain accurate inventory and usage records, supporting better forecasting and cost control.
- Prepare, formulate, and precisely mix inks according to detailed production specifications, established formulas, and customer color standards, ensuring consistency across all manufacturing runs.
- Conduct comprehensive color matching, viscosity testing, and quality control evaluations using instruments such as spectrophotometers, densitometers, and viscosity cups to confirm inks meet required performance thresholds.
- Document all ink batches, adjustments, test results, and material usage with a high level of accuracy to support traceability, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts across the ink management process.
- Monitor, manage, and forecast ink inventory levels, including receiving and inspecting incoming materials, rotating stock, maintaining proper labeling, and communicating supply needs to procurement or production leadership.
- Set up, operate, clean, and perform routine preventive maintenance on mixing equipment, storage vessels, and related tools to ensure reliability, safety, and optimal production readiness.
- Collaborate proactively with press operators, production supervisors, and quality teams to diagnose and resolve ink related issues, ensuring smooth workflow, minimal downtime, and high quality output.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and chemical handling protocols, including proper use of PPE, safe disposal procedures, and compliance with OSHA, EPA, or site specific regulatory requirements.
- Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance color consistency, reduce ink waste, streamline workflow, and support cost efficiency within the production environment.
- Provide coaching, training, or technical guidance to new employees, operators, or team members on ink handling practices, equipment use, and quality standards to strengthen team capability and operational performance.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent in experience.
- Mathematical skills including management of scaling batch sizes.
- Capable of executing shop floor transactions through the various computer systems Computer skills necessary to control the associated monitoring and control functions.
- Capable of managing a dynamic work load through organization, planning and effective time management skills.
- Attention to detail to execute work at a high level of precision.
Preferred:
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels using tools such as kanban or min-max.
- Ability to do testing such as color, viscosity, solids and refractive index.
- Communication skills to work as a member of the larger manufacturing team.
