Position Overview: Motor technicians are responsible for the assembly of a motor to include operating production equipment, disassembly, cleaning of parts and assembling components according to drawings and guidelines to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met. Motor technicians may need to work directly with supervisors or engineers to resolve any production issues. Shift: 5:30pm - 4:00am (2-3 months of training will be on 1st shift which is 6:30am - 5pm)
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Inspect, disassemble, clean, and reassemble motors to meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform visual inbound inspections, stage parts, and take photos.
- Record winding and bearing insulation readings with required tools.
- Remove and install couplings using hydraulic and special tools.
- Clean and inspect all motor components, including seals, rotors, and housings.
- Bake stator and rotor assemblies as required; record insulation resistance results post-cleaning.
- Perform surge compression and electrical tests; inspect coils for damage.
- Balance rotor assemblies, install new bearings, and flush with specified grease.
- Document all test results and complete final vibration and electrical analyses.
- Support safety and efficiency by cleaning work areas, conducting audits, and participating in process improvement projects.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- HS Diploma required.
- Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
- English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) – Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Product – Knowledge of product workmanship standards and assembly procedures.
- Computers – Basic knowledge of computer software applications.
- Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Machines and Tools – Knowledge of machines, power tools, and hand tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and operator level maintenance.
- Lean Manufacturing – Knowledge of basic lean principles and techniques for optimizing processes and eliminating waste.
- Documenting/Recording Information – Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
