Position OverviewUnder minimal supervision, the Material Handler II is responsible for the movement of material throughout the production facility while adhering to all company policies and operational processes and procedures. Reports to Warehouse Supervisor.
First Shift
: 6:30am – 3:00pm
The Material Handler will pull, prepare and stage job materials in assigned manufacturing work cells or staging areas to include material presentation load and unload material onto transports and trucks as well as assist with rigging of material on the manufacturing floor and on truck with the use of pallet jacks, forklift, or other equipment. The Material Handler will also remove and dispose of packing, scrap, material, skids and cardboard, etc.,
in the manufacturing area, storeroom and receiving area as necessary.
- Effectively communicate with Supervisor and peers
- Pull and issue parts for shop order kits
- Distribute shop orders to floor upon completion
- Maintain all empty bins by refilling from overstock
- Update overflow location counts in spreadsheets
- Update material location in spreadsheets for parts
- Pull materials for shipping kits and shop orders.
- Order all work cell and packing supplies.
- Print labels for bags and boxes.
- Communicate with Supervisor and peers about shipments.
- Ship materials for customer orders, RMAs, and miscellaneous shipments.
- Record all Serial Numbers and submit to Customer Service for pack slip generation.
- Coordinate with Quality to verify packing slips before shipment.
- Schedule trucks and place shipments for carrier pick-up.
- Receive and sign in all materials, ensuring they are labeled and stored correctly in the stockroom.
- Verify part numbers and communicate material status with Quality; place non-conforming items on Red Tagged shelves.
- Fill shortages for shop floor orders and run allocation reports for Team leaders.
- Inspect shipments for damage and accuracy against packing lists and bills of lading.
- Identify and report discrepancies or questionable conditions immediately.
- Assist with cycle counts, maintain Heijunka board, and use the MRP system competently.
- Follow Siemens safety and housekeeping practices to keep work areas safe and accessible.
- Work overtime as needed and lift 10-35 pounds frequently; duties may be cross-functional.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of material flow and storage locations to ensure materials
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to use MRP system to track inventory
- Organization and time management skills are critical
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Basic math skills
