Job Summary
:
Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions is the essential partner in the assessment of risk. They are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to manage reliability and toil reduction projects, support incident management, and contribute to process improvements. The role involves hands-on experience with SRE practices and providing informal guidance to junior staff.

Qualifications

Required
:
• Hands-on experience across most SRE practices.
• Good understanding of how to observe distributed systems and their dependencies.
• Ability to automate recovery to protect service levels.
• On-call support during incidents.
• Contribute to process improvements through experience and knowledge.
• Provide informal guidance to junior staff.
• Create monitoring queries and establish service level baselines.
• Support senior engineers during incidents.
• Make contributions during post-mortems and RCAs.
• Participate in disaster recovery tests.
• Implement automation and execute code in production environments.
• Contribute to SRE knowledge documentation.
• Support architecture and senior engineers in the creation of infrastructure topology drawings and deployment workflows.
• Carry out the testing of availability, reliability, and recoverability in non-production environments.
• Benchmark and document test performance results to support production readiness reviews.
• Advanced hands-on experience of Dev Ops practices including monitoring, virtual networks, cloud storage, containers and orchestration, CI/CD, configuration management, and securing cloud applications.
• Participate on-call to assist in the recovery of Major Incidents (for production environments).
• Test system and component failover within and between geographic regions (for production environments).
• Automate the recovery of systems and components using Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management scripts.
• Create and/or present RCAs including the executive summary, timeline, detailed impact statement, follow-on actions, and residual risks.
• Lead scenario modelling exercises and the creation of workflows which are triggered by a breach of SLO.
• Participate on the on-call rotation and provide on-call support for other SRE engineers.
• Write advanced automation scripts for incident response including failovers and rollbacks.
• Contribute to SRE knowledge base articles and training material.
• Analyze toil by looking at ticket trends and make recommendations for the team on focus areas.
• Independently work on small toil elimination projects.
• Deep technical understanding of observability techniques across the full stack.
• Create templated observability dashboards and configuration using code.
• Influence the setting of appropriate SLOs and Error Budgets.
• Work within or manage a cross-functional team in support of migrating applications to standard platforms.
• Give direction and consultancy to others when implementing new Paved Road features or Platforms.
• Analyze and make recommendations to improve the SDLC and CI/CD processes.
• Create actionable reports on the operational health and lifecycle of platform and product components.
