Job Overview
Job Title:
Senior SCADA Software Developer
Duration: 0-6 month(s)
Contract:
6 months with possible extension
Location:
Remote - Preferred EST time zone, will consider CST
- Provide code reviews, troubleshoot and give guidance to junior‑mid level developers.
- Leverage design/architecture experience in project‑based work.
- Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems for industrial automation processes.
- Develop SCADA systems using InTouch, System Platform, AVEVA/Wonderware Historian, OSI PI, etc.
- Configure and program SCADA software to monitor and control various industrial processes such as manufacturing, energy, mining, and utilities.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and develop solutions.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot SCADA software and related components such as PLCs, ensuring proper integration with existing infrastructure.
- Integrate SCADA systems with historians (e.g., OSI PI, Wonderware, AVEVA) for data acquisition, analysis and reporting.
- Develop custom scripts using scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, VBScript) to enhance system functionality and performance.
- Conduct system testing and commissioning to ensure accurate functioning, addressing any issues that arise.
- Perform system upgrades and modifications, adhering to industry best practices and minimizing operational disruption.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end‑users, troubleshooting system issues and delivering timely resolutions.
- Participate in training to stay updated with the latest SCADA technologies.
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems and integration with different data sources.
- Experience with AVEVA (formerly Wonderware) software products including System Platform, Operations Control, InTouch, and Predictive Analytics.
- Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
- Experience in programming languages such as JavaScript, Visual Basic, or C#.
- Familiarity with operational data historians such as AVEVA, Wonderware, OSI PI.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting industry‑standard communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA/DA, DNP3, and TCP/IP.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites if required.
- Proven experience focusing on AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform and OSI PI.
Remote work is the primary mode; engineers may need to travel up to 25% of the time for customer meetings or deployments. Additional travel (10‑20%) is possible after conversion to FTE.
