Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Senior, you’ll build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of recovery projects for clients across multiple industries and work in a highly collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities- Research client business operations and build long‑lasting relationships
- Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
- Identify potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicate these to clients
- Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries
- Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims
- Participate on a motivated team of professionals
- Supervise a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential
- Strong research and client‑relationship skills
- In-depth knowledge of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools
- Record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment
- Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or the ability to sit for a state bar
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranging from $81,700 to $135,000, plus specialized ranges for certain metro areas
