DescriptionThe Network Engineer plays a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing Mativ's global network infrastructure. This position is responsible for hands on design, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of WAN/LAN environments, SD WAN, wireless networks, telecom services, and telephony platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem solver with experience in enterprise network environments and a desire to contribute to modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys deep technical work, solving complex network issues, and collaborating with cross functional teams on global infrastructure projects.
ResponsibilitiesNetwork Architecture & Operations
- Deploy, configure, and support secure and scalable WAN/LAN solutions, including SD WAN technologies.
- Assist with network refresh, hardware upgrades, and lifecycle management across global locations.
- Administer and support wireless infrastructure, routing, switching, and VPN connectivity.
- Participate in the rollout and optimization of unified communications and telephony solutions (e.g., 8x8 soft phone systems).
- Monitor network performance and availability using appropriate tools and dashboards.
Troubleshooting & Incident Response
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across LAN, WAN, Wi Fi, VPN, and cloud connectivity.
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and apply corrective/preventive actions.
- Provide Tier 3 support and collaborate with service providers when needed.
- Telecom & Telephony Support
- Support telecom services including wireline, mobility, and hosted telephony platforms.
- Assist in standardizing telephony systems across sites and business units.
- Use Telecom Expense Management (TEM) tools to validate billing, track usage, and identify anomalies.
Documentation & Standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to the development and adoption of network standards, security policies, and best practices.
Vendor & Equipment Support
- Work with vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, HP, and telecom carriers for hardware, support tickets, and service issues.
- Assist in evaluating and testing new tools, hardware, and network technologies.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency across the network.
- Participate in projects focused on modernization, automation, and infrastructure optimization.
- Provide input for long‑term planning and technology roadmaps.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in enterprise network engineering or network operations.
- Hands on experience with Cisco, Meraki, and Fortinet networking technologies.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, SD WAN, VPN, wireless networking, and firewalls.
- Experience with telephony or VoIP platforms (e.g., 8x8, Cisco UC, Teams Phone).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and work in a collaborative, global environment.
- Travel 5-10% to sites, as required, for network analysis, troubleshooting, and improvements.
Preferred
- Certifications:
CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CMNA designation - Familiarity with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) tools is a plus.
