Under general direction of the Public Works Facilities Supervisor, performs technical work in support of the City’s facility repair, maintenance, and renovations. Oversight of procurement, scheduling, and management of City contractors and vendors for the maintenance, repair, alteration, replacement, and upgrades to all city‑maintained facilities. Periodic supervision and training of Public Works facility repair and maintenance crews.

- Inspects the construction, repair, and/or alteration work on assigned engineering/public works facility projects, inspects materials, methods, and procedures for conformance with plans and specifications; enforces and observes testing of materials; reviews test reports; performs final inspection upon completion of project.
- Assists in the procurement process for renovations and modifications to City owned facilities. This includes developing scopes of work, Quotes, Invitations to Bid (ITB), Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Qualifications (RFQ), etc.
- Manages and provides oversight of renovations and modifications of City owned facilities. This may include processing pay applications applicable to work being performed, provide punch list, and meet with contractors to verify scope is understood and feasible.
- Meets and confers with representatives of utility companies, contractors, engineers, and other public agencies regarding construction plans and specifications.
- Prepares and/or generates various records and reports including inspection log or record, start date, photographs, etc.
- Performs field verification of existing infrastructure and utilities pertaining to City owned facilities; assists in the relocation of existing utilities on City facility construction projects.
- Uses computer equipment including spreadsheets, database, and word processing software to generate construction reports.
- Accomplish field work to develop a solution pertaining to a service request that has been submitted to the Department of Public Works or an issue brought to the Department’s attention.
- Assists in preparing and processing progress payments for contractors, negotiating contract change orders and revisions to reimbursement agreements.
- Compiles detailed data on construction progress and inspection results including project punch lists; issues notification letters to contractors; maintains a variety of records and files; prepares various reports and logs on daily operations and activities.
- Reviews plans, specifications, contract documents, and other technical data to ensure conformance with City standards; recommends and/or makes changes as necessary.
- Performs supervisory work of Public Works facility maintenance crews in the absence of the Public Works Facility Supervisor.
- Management and oversight of capital improvement facility projects including but not limited to, scope of work development, budgeting, applicable code compliance verification, payment, construction meetings, and prioritization of work.
- Management of numerous repair and maintenance vendor contracts including but not limited to;
Generator maintenance/replacement, fire suppression inspection/maintenance, fire extinguisher inspection/maintenance, elevator maintenance/inspections/repairs, parking garage inspection/maintenance/repairs, etc. - Assists the Public Works Facility Supervisor with identifying, budgeting, procuring, and implementing any facility energy efficiency upgrades, deficiencies, or requirements per federal, state, or local requirements.
