Base pay range$62,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr
SummaryWe are looking for a Jr Automation/Controls Engineer. This role provides design efforts from inception through production in both new and existing designs and projects. The ideal candidate will develop control system design and testing documentation, develop control system cabinet designs, and execute the PLC/HMI programming per the control system functional specification for projects. Must have high regard for detail, quality, and productivity.
Must be able to lead and direct other engineers and work as part of a multidisciplinary design team. They will work with lead engineers and design staff to solve engineering challenges associated with the electrical and controls design of the projects.
- Electrical/Instrument drawing design utilizing AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical
- Develop PLC control cabinets enclosure, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and loop diagrams;
Able to design control enclosures that meet UL requirements - Able to comprehend hazardous area classification drawings and identify hazardous areas in the field
- Able to interpret P&IDs and evaluates the drawings from a control perspective to identify missing components; must be able to modify P&IDs as required in AutoCAD
- Learn and apply API RP 500, UL 508A, NEC, NFPA and other related electrical codes
- Develop control system design documentation, architecture diagrams, and testing documentation necessary for factory acceptance testing
- Perform PLC, HMI, and develop simulation system required to validate the programming changes
- Prepare all necessary documentation and perform onsite commissioning and startups
- Utilizes MS Office software to generate reports and schedules
- Knowledge in electrical engineering and design using AutoCAD a PLUS
- Bachelors in electric engineering from an accredited college or university required
- EIT preferred
- Must demonstrate leadership and organization ability
- Must be skilled at written and verbal communications in English
- Must demonstrate strong math and analytical skills
- Must be action oriented, with ethical values and have strong sense of community and teamwork
- Demonstrate initiative and assertiveness and ability to work well under stress and time pressures
- Successful in planning and executing in a self-directed, fast paced professional environment
- Willingness to travel 25%
