Instructor - Humanities; ANF

Overview

This job is a full time (12-Month), benefit, FLSA exempt position in the General Education Division that reports to the Dean of Education. Working primarily at the Alpharetta
- North Fulton Campus.

Salary
:
Commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $61,360.00 per year.

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10213):
Doctorate or master s degree in humanities, studio art, art history, literature, theatre, music education, world religions, and/or world history OR Master s degree with 18 graduate hours in humanities, art history, literature, music education, world religion or diverse religious studies, and/or world history.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies. Credentials to teach humanities plus one other course (art, music, and/or religion) are preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs.

Some experience with online instruction is a plus.

Under general supervision, prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Humanities courses at Gwinnett Technical College. Develops programs and syllabi, goals, and objectives. Evaluates students  progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.

Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students  instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts, and placement efforts.

• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Humanities courses. (Performed by all incumbents) Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class members.
• Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
• Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of students.
• Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
• Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals, and progress schedule.
• Serves as mentor for adjunct faculty within program area.
• Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials.
• Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives. (Performed by some incumbents)
• Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve the objectives and goals of students.
• Follow designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.
• Participates in standing or ad hoc committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities and other technical college sponsored activities or programs as required.
• Prepares program reports for submission to supervisor within specified time frames of request.
• Evaluates students  progress in attaining goals and objectives. (Performed by all incumbents)
• Establishes criteria and tests the students in order to measure each student s progress.
• Communicates progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.
• Accurately records pertinent information in students  records as required.
