Specialist Outreach SEN Tutor (Alnwick and Surrounding Areas) ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Specialist Outreach Tutor, you will plan and deliver tailored lessons that re‑engage vulnerable learners many of whom may have complex needs and long‑term barriers to learning. You’ll play a key role in building confidence, fostering motivation, and supporting educational progress outside of the traditional classroom environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional who understands the challenges of alternative provision and is passionate about inclusive education.

Alnwick and surrounding areas - Position: SEN Outreach Tutor
- Type of Work: 1:1 tuition within the student’s home or in a library/learning hub
- Start Date:

Varies based on individual pupil needs - Contract Type:
Flexible / Temporary / Ongoing - Hours:
Minimum 1 hour per session, up to 3 hours per pupil per day (part‑time and full‑time roles available) - Rate of Pay: up to £30 per hour (dependent on experience and pupil requirements)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent SEN‑related teaching qualification
- Substantial experience working with children with SEN (e.g. ASD, SEMH, ADHD), ideally in roles such as SENCO or within PRUs
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging, individualised learning programmes
- Confidence working independently in off‑site settings (e.g. homes, libraries, learning centres)
- A trauma‑informed and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable young people
- Current safeguarding training (within the last 12 months)
- Team Teach or similar de‑escalation training
- Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND Code of Practice
- Hold the right to work in the UK
- Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Provide two recent, child‑related references
- Access to accredited CPD courses including Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, and SEN‑specific training
- Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
