- Regularly assesses patient’s needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care and accepted standards of evidence based nursing practice.
- Provides direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, education, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, and other duties as appropriate.
- Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan and makes suggestions or participates in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
- The RN is knowledgeable and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations and guidelines as well as hospital specific policies and procedures relating to care provided in the medical center.
- Supports the mission, goals, policies and standards of nursing. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Reflects bio psychosocial nursing care in performance and documentation.
- Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, MDHP, MDMH, HIPAA/MiOSHA guidelines and participates in department activities, QA, and patient care planning updates every 48 hours or PRN per patient needs.
- Delegates appropriate aspects of care to other members of the health care team and assists with orientation of new or transferred staff. Directs and preceptors nursing students when appropriate.
- Provides and ensures a safe and secure environment for the patient; demonstrates infection prevention and participates in interdisciplinary care; maintains excellent customer service.

Cardiac care, Telemetry monitoring and management, Care of medical, bariatric, and surgical patients. - Dysphagia, Transfer training and FIM training required within 30 days of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
- 4 South Unit education/orientation within 90 days of hire.
- Experience as a registered nurse preferred.
- Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief and death; PPE requirements; ability to move about facility with or without assistive devices.
- Vision and hearing adequate; ability to sit/stand/walk; willingness for postural changes; exposure to infectious materials with adherence to safety guidelines.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain attendance, and stay awake; dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering.
- Physical Demand Level: Medium. Lifting requirements: occasionally 21-50 lbs, frequently 20-66%, and constant 10 lbs with movement.
