Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to guest questions or concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop; prioritize guests over tasks and circulate throughout the store.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the POS computer system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; handle phone calls professionally.
  • Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, e.g., reservations program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager in setting guest service expectations for store associates and training associates in all aspects of their responsibilities.
  • Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
  • Provide timely recognition and feedback to all store associates and input written feedback into Workday / HR system.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift.
  • Schedule store associates, ensuring adherence to scheduling guidelines and accounting for breaks and meals.
  • Approve payroll and time‑off requests and verify that associates are paid for all hours worked.
  • Maintain clean, organized store areas, including restrooms, and ensure fixtures and equipment are working properly.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
  • Prevent inventory shrinkage through effective loss prevention practices, and inspect associates’ packages at closing or shift end.
  • Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
  • Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain product presentation on the sales floor.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals correctly; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips accurately.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies and record them in the POS system; communicate issues to the Store Manager/District Manager.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly, labeling boxes appropriately.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, identify hazards, and report injuries promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining store records/files and ensuring manuals are up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
