Under the supervision of the Museum Director, this individual will perform a variety of routine clerical and manual work in the museum to assist with the care and documentation of donated artifacts, assist with cataloging the condition and location of items, and provide services to museum patrons.
Location and HoursThis position is located at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center at 908 Yellowstone. Individual will work 25 hrs per week as scheduled during the hours of operation:
Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 7:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am to 6:00p.m., and Sundays 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.
This position is part-time 25 hours per week and includes vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and dental/vision.
In this Position, you Will:- Receive the public and answer questions in person and on the phone.
- Clean, repair, and organize museum inventory, including vacuuming and dusting.
- Provide tours for citizens, schools and community groups while sharing stories of local history.
- Assist in meal preparation for catered events being held in the Museum facility.
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as computer skills, typing, filing, and record keeping.
- Experience working with the public.
Skills and Abilities
Must have ability to become knowledgeable of the history of Alliance and Box Butte County;
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public of all ages; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships;
Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
