Strip & Test Operator - Off Shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for conducting integrity tests of hoses using pressurized water. Operator will also expel mandrel from hose.

• Follow and meet standard work requirements for assembly, packaging, processing, and inspection of final product.
• Prepare and complete all necessary documents.
• Ensure quality by performing inspections, pressure checking hoses to specification, identifying and eliminating defects, and documenting conforming and non‑conforming product.
• Provide required samples to QA department.
• Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Prioritize job duties based on information from Work Leader/Value Stream Team Leader.

• Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards and procedures, report unsafe conditions or activities that pose health or environmental risk.
• Prevent waste by operating equipment efficiently.
• Maintain production schedules.
• Participate in peer‑based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and contribute to Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S programs.
• Other duties may be assigned later.

• Education required: High School diploma or GED

Production work preferred but not required.

• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
• Sound decision‑making skills.
• Good math, reading, and writing skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Mental and visual acuity for quality production.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.

• Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Employee must pass pre‑employment screening.

• Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
• Work closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.

• Work requirements: daily tasks include frequent repetitions (4–6 per hour), occasional push/pull, and continuous lifting (up to 30 lbs). Bending, twisting, and reaching below knee occur frequently.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Shoulders may be lifted up to 10 lbs sometimes.
• Squat/kneel and stand/walk are common; sitting is limited.

• Required PPE:
  Safety glasses, ANSI Z41 safety shoes, hearing protection, Kevlar gloves.
• Standing for extended periods; bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping frequently.
• Occasional climbing, carrying, stooping, kneeling, lifting overhead.
• High degree of manual dexterity. Flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
• Exposure to water possible; wet clothes or shoes/boots may occur.
