Job Summary: The Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep of the organization’s facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role involves performing routine maintenance, repairs, and ensuring that both interior and exterior areas are well‑maintained, safe, and functional. The Specialist will oversee landscaping services, perform general maintenance tasks, and assist with facility projects to ensure the efficient operation of the facility as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to immediate needs as required to maintain safety, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Perform plumbing operations necessary to install, remove, and repair toilets, sinks, and other related equipment.
- Ensure exterior areas and grounds are well maintained and safe. Oversee landscaping, mowing, snow removal.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized maintenance services and ensure work is completed to company standards.
- Maintain pest control contracts and documentation.
- Assist with the setup, teardown, and maintenance of company events or facility usage.
- Monitor inventory levels for facility maintenance supplies and order as needed.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs on building systems, including lighting, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to facility operations.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) as needed.
- Assist with facility improvement projects, including painting, flooring repairs, and general construction work.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Specifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in facilities maintenance or related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities or grounds maintenance, or related field.
- Proficient in general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance best practices.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment, including power tools, mowers, and snowplows.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must communicate fluently in English and have legible handwriting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS).
- Forklift certification or other relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing).
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and energy efficiency in facilities maintenance.
- Indoor and outdoor with exposure to weather conditions.
- Some physical demands, including lifting, bending, standing, and operating machinery.
- Occasional overtime required for emergency repairs or special projects.
