Structural Project Engineer

Our Lehigh Valley office is looking to hire a Structural Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will be a licensed PE in Pennsylvania, have a minimum of 6 years of experience and will work within a team of professionals performing design and delivery of low- to mid-rise vertical buildings, analyzing and retrofitting existing structures and interacting with private clients. We are looking for someone who is highly internally motivated, wants to work on complex and engaging projects and desires increasing levels of responsibility.

The ideal candidate will also have interest in bridge design projects and willing to perform bridge design tasks when necessary.

Location

This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from our Lehigh Valley office.

The Impact you will
  • Serve as lead engineer on a variety of vertical building, miscellaneous structural, and PennDOT related bridge design projects.
  • Lead structural analysis and design efforts for vertical building projects including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber elements.
  • Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations for various PennDOT bridge structure projects.
  • Perform condition assessments on a variety of structures and develop reports to present findings.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth and development of the structural staff in the Lehigh Valley office.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned design calculations and structural details assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work.
  • Manage the process of compiling and coordinating plans and specifications and coordinating with architects, MEP consultants and contractors.
  • Provide construction support by reviewing shop drawings and answering RFIs.
  • Coordinate above tasks with the Project Manager.
What we are looking for
  • S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • PE License in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain through reciprocity
  • Minimum of 6 years of vertical building design and miscellaneous structural design experience including design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, concrete masonry and timber elements.
  • Proficient experience with steel lateral systems and shear walls
  • Strong working knowledge of current IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, and AISC 360
  • Experience working with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and local municipalities
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis/FEM modeling software
  • Eagerness to learn Micro Station Connects, Open Roads and Open Bridge Design software
