Job Title: Transmission Operations Support Specialist
Location: Hybrid - Allentown, PA (Tues-Thurs in office, Mon/Fri remote)
Overview:
This role supports the PPL Transmission Operations Support team by helping maintain and improve operational applications, procedures, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience with transmission operations and a strong understanding of electric system operations and one-line schematics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transmission Outage Application (TOA) Support
- Audit and validate TOA and iTOA applications to ensure all devices in the Energy Management System (EMS) are correctly designated and represented.
- Ensure switching steps used by operators are properly configured in TOA.
- Establish controls and procedures to maintain ongoing accuracy of TOA data.
- Explore digital switching opportunities in ORCA/iTOA to reduce reliance on paper-based switching.
- Recreate Rhode Island (RI) station notes to match the standardized Pennsylvania (PA) format.
- Maintain and update existing station notes to reflect system changes.
- Standardize and update Customer Operating Instructions.
Support the development and documentation of best practices and process improvements in the following areas:
- Operations studies
- EMS modeling and advanced applications
- EMS alarming optimization
- EMS facility rating practices
Required:
- Associate degree
- OR
- 1-2 years of related industry experience in lieu of a degree
- Transmission Operations experience
- Familiarity with electric system operations and one-line schematics
- Understanding of EMS, TOA/iTOA, and digital switching technologies
