Civil Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Civil Engineering Manager is a people-centric leader dedicated to cultivating a coaching culture and driving excellence in client satisfaction, operations, and project execution. The position is primarily responsible for coaching and developing group members, fostering collaboration and teamwork, overseeing people-related tasks, actively attracting and retaining top talent through networking and engagement, and ensuring high standards in project delivery and client satisfaction.

Additionally, the role plays a key role in financial management, contributing to organizational growth and success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

◼ Coach, lead, and inspire group members to drive our employee-owner culture

◼ Ensure group members engage in timely and superior project delivery and cross-service group collaboration

◼ Drive employee engagement among group members with a focus on their professional growth and development

◼ Support group members to ensure that existing clients become and/or remain ongoing, long-term clients

◼ Manage group workload prioritization and backlog (in conjunction with other GMs & Services AVPs), utilization, WIP, AR, existing client sales, and time charges, ensuring operations efficiency and group quality

◼ Oversee project budget development and compliance with budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility, management of project resources, and firm's reputation for quality, service, and reliability

◼ This position requires a combination of direct and in-direct time that will vary, based on operations and

expectations discussed with the Operations AVPs

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

◼ Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate engineering or related discipline required

◼ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with proven experience in project management and delivering projects on time and within budget

◼ Appropriate state Professional Licensure or Certification preferred

◼ Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative teams, with a strong emphasis on coaching, mentoring, and fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment

◼ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, and stakeholders at all levels of the organization virtually, by telephone, or in-person

◼ Experience in client relations, proposal preparation, project budgeting, and public presentations

◼ Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills

◼ Effective utilization of common business platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting tools, project management systems, etc.

◼ Ability to travel daily/overnight (on average 20-30% of the time) by car, train, and/or air as appropriate

◼ Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
