Under direct supervision, preserves safe water and sewer utilities. Maintains and repairs water and sewer lines and taps. Other duties include ensuring equipment safety and interfacing with other city employees and citizens. Position does not provide direction to other employees.
Essential Functions- Lays and maintains water lines using a backhoe, installs, repairs, and removes water meters, locates water leaks, inspects, and repairs water lines, taps lines for the city, and maintains fire hydrants.
- Maintains sewer lines by cleaning and repairing, correcting stoppages, repairing manholes, conducting preventative maintenance inspections, testing for infiltration or ex-filtration, repairing roadways and easements, and assisting with pump station repairs.
- Repairs water and sewer taps by excavating to the main, tapping lines, running new services, assisting with installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, valves, hydrants, meters, wells, and logging water lines.
- Ensures equipment safety by performing preventative maintenance on equipment and tools, cleaning and fixing components, and changing the oil.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with no prior relevant experience.
Special Requirements
- Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Texas Class A CDL required or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months from hire date.
Supervision Exercised: Direct supervision. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to standards.

- Ability to operate city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
