The purpose of this position is to maintain accurate meter records. This is accomplished by reading and maintaining meters and performing repairs on meters. Other duties may include customer service, installing and disconnecting meters, and interfacing with City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

• Monitors AMI system alerts and exceptions, including leak alerts, reverse flow, and no‑read situations.
• Performs field verification of AMI‑generated alerts and resolves issues by repairing or replacing meters, MTU's or communication components as needed.
• Installs, programs, and tests AMI endpoints and communication modules to ensure accurate data transmission.
• Utilizes asset management system to complete assigned work orders.
• Supports customer service by interpreting AMI consumption data, assisting customers with usage concerns, and explaining AMI system functions.
• Identifies and locates addresses for new meter installations.
• Performs meter testing for accuracy using meter test bench according to AWWA standards.
• Installs meters in meter boxes and vaults. Installs meter boxes, including digging holes.
• Maintains clean tools, equipment and jobsites.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of relevant heavy machine operation work experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
