-based freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Manager to oversee import/export operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead a high-performing team within a dynamic, fast‑growing logistics environment.
This is a key leadership role for a licensed customs broker who thrives in a hands‑on operational setting and enjoys driving efficiency, compliance, and exceptional customer service.
About the RoleAs the Customs Brokerage Manager
, you will manage all customs brokerage activities, guide the operations team, and act as the organization’s licensed broker of record. You’ll combine regulatory expertise with strategic leadership to support both daily operations and long‑term business goals.
- Serve as the company’s licensed customs broker of record.
- Review customs entries, HTS classifications, valuation, PGA requirements, and filings.
- Stay current on CBP regulations and advise leadership on compliance matters.
- Oversee adherence to C‑TPAT, FMC, and other federal programs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the import/export operations team.
- Improve processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and overall efficiency.
- Oversee client accounts with a focus on documentation accuracy and timely communication.
- Manage relationships with carriers, vendors, and government agencies.
- Provide expert guidance to clients on customs regulations and entry processes.
- Support sales with technical expertise during client acquisition activities.
- Address and resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Develop and refine operational policies and procedures.
- Monitor KPIs to evaluate compliance accuracy, efficiency, and service performance.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, resource planning, and growth initiatives.
- Maintain audit‑ready records and reporting standards.
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field (preferred)
- 5–7 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics operations
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, HTS classification, valuation, FTAs, and PGA requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
- Skilled with ABI systems, Microsoft Office, and logistics management software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail
