Medical Assistant I PT (Part‑time)
The role is located at GI Alliance and involves a blend of clinical and administrative duties to support providers and patients in a Gastroenterology practice.
Position PurposeAssist physicians with patient care, perform clerical tasks, maintain clinic organization, and ensure patients receive complete and professional information about the services offered.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient flow: check schedules, accompany patients to exam rooms, aid with transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and voting preparations, collect patient history, check vital signs, perform screenings per provider guidelines, assist providers, chart, triage calls, administer medication, verify prescriptions, and provide pertinent information to patients and families.
- Handle clerical duties: receive and send patient records, obtain lab/X‑ray reports, hospital notes, referrals; complete forms; schedule appointments; manage check‑in/out; verify insurance; update charts.
- Maintain organizational standards: respect patient rights, respond to emergency codes, share any issues with supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma / GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
Experience: Minimum one year in a medical facility; documented externship in a medical office is acceptable; experience in gastroenterology practice preferred.
Requirements for Level I Status- Entry level (1‑4 years experience) or requires additional supervision.
- Exceeds 4 years experience but still requires additional supervision.
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical assistant tasks.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to provide patient education.
- Ability to learn and retain patient care practices.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring.
