Position Description
Title: Business Manager – 12 Month Contracted Position
Reports to: Superintendent
Location: Administration Office
Position
Description:
Manage and oversee the business and physical plant support operations of a school district with an enrollment of approximately 1,100 students and a budget of 33 million dollars.
Qualifications: B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. CPA and MBA preferred. Three to five years supervisory experience in a public school district. Experience with the Pro Soft (windows-based) financial system a plus. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Business Manager Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate the development of the District’s annual budget.
- Accurately maintain the financial records of the District.
- Supervise and oversee the following Business Office operations –
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll
- Investments
- Employee Benefits Administration
- Bid Preparation
- Tax Collection
- Debt Service
- Prepare monthly financial reports.
- Conduct and oversee monthly financial account reconciliations.
- Arrange and oversee financial audits conducted by government agencies or independent audits.
- Prepare financial information as needed for collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain District compliance with Act 1 and any other state/federal regulatory guidelines or laws.
- Participate in District planning and leadership efforts as determined by the Superintendent or Board of School Directors.
- Provide direct oversight of various District divisions including:
Physical Plant, Food Service, Transportation, and such other operations as deemed necessary by the Superintendent and the Board of School Directors. - Assist the Superintendent in identifying, planning, and establishing the goals, objectives and direction of District Physical Plant management.
- Other duties as directed.
