The Bulk Delivery driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating diesel-powered tractor-trailers to transport and deliver products or materials in the packaged or palletized form to and from customer locations for local and regional distances following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and Company policies. This position unloads pallets, repositions trailers, and interacts with customers and the sales team while ensuring excellent service.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform assigned pre‑shift activities to ensure a productive shift; review work schedules, check equipment, and ensure supplies for scheduled work including load accuracy.
- Conduct a daily pre‑trip, post‑trip, and in‑route safety inspection of truck and trailers to ensure safe operation according to FMCSA regulations.
- Safely and legally operate the tractor‑trailer at all times following all applicable laws and Company policy; complete required freight paperwork and obtain signatures and documentation.
- Effectively plan routes using maps, GPS, and written or verbal information to ensure efficient, legal, and on‑time pickup and delivery. Use an electronic log to record daily hours of service following FMCSA, state, and Company requirements. Load and secure cargo within the trailer and maintain seal control.
- Read and comprehend trip information to plan efficiently; load and unload freight using electric pallet jacks or other means; foster relationships with team members and store personnel to eliminate issues and maximize volume opportunities.
- Perform post‑shift tasks, including coupling/uncoupling trucks from trailers, sliding tandems, operating loading gear, opening/closing cargo doors, climbing on/off vehicles safely, and refueling truck with diesel.
- Read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the position and FMCSA regulations.
- Obtain and maintain a valid FMCSA physical certification with Interstate non‑exceptioned classification within 60 days of entry.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) valid for Interstate driving using manual and automatic transmission within 60 days of entry (timeline for a permit or license varies by location).
- Preferred:
Two (2) years of verifiable tractor‑trailer driving experience. - Preferred:
Sales experience. - Lift up to 50 lbs and use a pallet jack.
- Operate loading gear and perform safe climbing on/off vehicle.
- Read and understand trip information to plan effectively.
- Use hand‑held device that also serves as a cell phone.
- Willing to work varying shifts, including overnight and early morning.
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving history; CDL required. Hazmat certification where necessary.
