Overview
Join the City as a Senior Signal Technician, with the option to underfill as a Signal Technician! In this role, you will perform senior level work in the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of solid state electronic traffic control equipment including ITS field hardware, communication system, and other related electrical traffic management and control equipment. Senior level work includes responsibilities that require incumbents to exercise judgment, complete difficult and complex traffic signal repair work, and function with independence in the performance of such work.
Transportation Management is a division of the department of Public Works. The division is responsible for maintaining signal operations, traffic cameras, DMS boards, and interconnect within the city, as well as traffic data collection. SeniorSignal Technician – Experience, Education, and Training
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Electronics, or a related field; AND Three years of appropriate experience including two years in assisting with traffic signal maintenance and repair work;
- OR An Associate’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Electronics; AND Five years of appropriate experience including at least four years of experience with traffic signal maintenance and repair work;
- OR A combination of college level education, training or experience in electronics or electrical systems equivalent to seven years of appropriate experience including at least four years assisting with traffic signal maintenance and repair work.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license;
- Must possess International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification as a Traffic Signal Technician – Level II and/or Traffic Signal Electrician–Level II certification.
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Electronics or a related field; AND One year in assisting with traffic signal maintenance and repair work;
- OR Associate’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Electronics AND Three years of appropriate experience including at least two years assisting with traffic signal maintenance and repair work;
- Combination of college level education, training or experience in electronics or electrical systems equivalent to five years appropriate experience with at least two years assisting with traffic signal maintenance and repair work.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license;
- Must obtain International Municipal Signal Association (ISMA) certification as a Traffic Signal Technician – Level I and/or Traffic Signal Electrician – Level I certification.
