Overview

SERDP-ESTCP Strategic Environmental Research Fellowship at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).

• Engage in assessment and evaluation of active SERDP/ESTCP projects.
• Summarize results and develop strategic paths forward for future research.
• Consolidate research efforts and develop communicative tools for DoD decision‑makers.
• Gain experience in science communication, policy development, and academic publication.

• Ph.D. in a relevant field received within the last 60 months (or by 1/31/2026);
  Veterans:
  Ph.D. within 10 years.
• Experience with challenges on military installations (chemistry, natural hazards, critical minerals, coastal engineering, etc.).

Stipend: $110,000 – $120,000 for a 12‑month appointment.

Location: Alexandria, VA (no relocation required; occasional travel to VA).

Start date: Determined upon selection; applications reviewed ongoing.

Appointment length: 1 year with option to extend up to 4 additional years, contingent on funding.
