Job DescriptionInova Alexandria Hospital is seeking an Operating Room RN Unit Supervisor to join our team full-time. This position will benefit from the Weekend Differential contract. Eligible Nurses will qualify for sign-on & relocation bonuses.
Position schedule:
Fulltime (3/12hr shifts) Weekend Premium. Schedule will be rotation of Fri, Sat, Sun & Sat, Sun, Mon.
Training to take place during the weekdays prior to transferring to Weekend Premium shift .

Comprehensive range of surgical specialties to include, orthopedics-total joints, sports medicine, spine, general ENT, gynecology, urology, plastics, vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, podiatry, and maxillofacial. Full range of Endoscopy services including Heartburn Treatment.

- Participates in the analysis of unit based quality outcomes as well as development, deployment and enculturation of action plans that lead to systematic improvement in outcomes
- Provides individualized coaching and counseling to clinical staff on critical processes, standards and problem solving/critical thinking in a positive and non-punitive manner
- Serves as a role model to others in communication to patients, identifying concerns, diffusing potentially difficult situations and facilitating resolution
- Conducts effective safety huddles by making use of all relevant information and making appropriate decisions to ensure optimal outcomes

- Conducts quality checks to ensure compliance and team member adherence to high quality ISHAPED handoff
- Provides oversight of Registered Nurse rounding to ensure patient satisfaction and identify areas of opportunity
- May perform additional duties as assigned
- Experience:Requires a minimum of1 yearof direct Operating Room (OR) experience as a Registered Nurse
- Education:BSN or ADN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN/MSN within 1 year of hire
- License:Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
- Certification:Basic Life Support with American Heart Association.
Completion of revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days of hire
Preferred Experience:
- Prior Unit Supervisor, Charge RN, OR Service Leader experience in the OR
- Scrub and Circulating experience highly preferred
- AORN's Periop 101 curriculum completion and/or CNOR
