Overview
Location: Potomac Divisional Headquaters - Alexandria, Virginia
Position Type: Regular Full Time – 35 hours weekly
Pay Range: $28.75
This position is responsible for:
Assisting in the development and implementation of short-and-long term strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual mid-level donors with annual giving between $500-$2,499; monitor a variety of mid-level donor activities and communications to maximize the organization s resources effectively and efficiently while providing appropriate avenues for engaging and recruiting new donors; assist in the creation of strategies to increase identified and potential donor support;
assist in the preparation of analysis of fundraising activities for development of cultivation and solicitation strategies; assist in implementation of strategies to elevate midlevel donors where possible to major donor status and transfer to the Resource Development team when annual giving reaches $2,500, ensuring that all aspects of the donor database management system are used to maximize donor cultivation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for mid-level donor program; provide guidance and technical support on the program to the Corps and Area Commands across the division.
- Build audiences by conducting donor identification efforts for mid-level donors; research and analyze donor records and additional data from the donor database to assess prospects, create prospect lists, and coordinate prospect review.
- Conduct donor engagement and cultivation efforts with mid-level donors including writing handwritten notes, making phone calls, and assisting supervisor in producing briefing materials for Salvation Army officers and major gift fundraisers ahead of in-person visits by them to cultivated mid-level donors.

- Maintain the integrity and hygiene of CRM per the rules, policies, procedures, and minutes of the Southern Territory and Potomac Division; enter, update, and correct pertinent donor information and record donor interactions and gift details promptly and accurately; ensure database security and donor information and record confidentiality; alert supervisor and applicable command of any significant or recurring issues.
Physical Requirements and
Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to type and record information and data into a computer.
- Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, and adding machine. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, fundraising, business administration, marketing, communications or related field and
- Two years experience in fundraising, donor relations, donor base management, mid-level donor cultivation and stewardship. or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
