Events Coordinator
Status: Full-Time, contractor for federal agency
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duration: One Year Base contract with additional option years
Location: National Science Foundation in Alexandria, VA
About This Position: The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) communicates and shares information about the activities, programs, research results and policies of the Foundation with internal and external audiences and stakeholders including Congress, the news media, state and local governments, other Federal agencies, and research and education communities. Our efforts to build awareness and promote the benefits of federally funded science and engineering supported by NSF translate into multimedia, web, and other outreach activities that inform policy makers, the media, and the American taxpayers about the value and impact of NSF-supported research and activities.
These activities make NSF’s investments in science, technology, engineering, education, and mathematics readily available and easily understandable to our stakeholders.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide logistics support for a variety of meetings, events and conferences
- Provide direct support to internal and external events to include managing venue requirements, signage, invitations, attendance, and other requirements as needed.
- Research requirements and context for various events, meetings and conferences, to ensure that the NSF Director and OLPA Staff are prepared to interact with various audiences and stakeholders.
- Identify and manage inventory for educational information resources and other outreach materials.
- Coordinate exhibit design, technology, and management with designated vendors/partners.
- Provide expert guidance on the most efficient and effective options for building/curating/creating exhibits and activations, supplies and experiences to suit specific event needs.
- Ability to carry/maneuver various pieces of heavy equipment (50+lbs) for onsite events and exhibits (e.g., carrying banners/boxes of materials to rolling crates.)
- Can easily adapt onsite events and exhibits planning and logistics skills to virtual platforms and environments.
- Have access to equipment such as a laptop, Adobe CS, Microsoft Office Suite, and other project management and design programs as needed.
- Familiar with federal requirements (e.g. 508 compliance) and will ensure NSF is compliant with such regulations.
- This labor category may involve some travel by one or more individuals.
Physical Demands:
- This position routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, phones in office environment
- The physical requirements of this position are described as sedentary
- Sedentary work involves: sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required only occasionally
