Data Science Manager, Systems Engineer
Overview
AWS is expanding our infrastructure management team in the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) and invites cleared professionals to join our elite team. We are seeking a proven technology manager with people management and development experience who can drive AWS ADC Operations to the next level.
Responsibilities- Leading and supervising a Decom team of hourly employees within the ADC
- Ensure overall safety and security across multiple teams and shifts
- Strategic planning, forecasting and resolution of problems; address staffing needs
- Mentoring, training and developing direct reports for career progression; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees
- Write and deliver annual performance reviews to senior management
- Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across all ADC regions
- Work with other supporting functions and operational regions to develop performance KPI and metrics; drive throughput efficiencies by continuously improving operational processes
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to AWS services. Physical RequirementsDepending on the job type, you will be required to engage in physical activities with or without reasonable accommodation. These activities include the following: lifting up to 40 pounds, working in cramped or elevated locations, bending, lifting, standing for long periods, climbing, working in a noisy environment, and shift work to support 24/7 operations.
Security ClearanceThis position requires a US Citizen and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. You will be asked qualifying questions related to the security clearance during the application process.
Basic Qualifications- High school or equivalent diploma, or equivalent certifications (e.g., A+ or Network+ or Security+)
- 2+ years of experience hiring and managing performance of technicians to meet service level agreements
- 1+ years of experience working on IT hardware including repairs, assembly, manufacturing, installations or lifecycle decommissioning
- 1+ years of experience working with inventory management systems
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2+ years in a data center technology role with experience in physical data center infrastructure (copper/fiber cabling)
- Experience developing operational metrics to drive efficiencies
- Experience with LEAN tools/methodologies for process improvement or cost reduction
- Experience refining requirements to improve scanning, tracking, inventory, database software and tooling
