Overview
Entry‑level HR role designed to build a long‑term career by learning HR functions from the ground up. Provides hands‑on administrative experience in a fast‑paced government contracting environment, supporting core HR operations such as onboarding, compliance processing, leave administration, and general HR support.
Location & Hybrid WorkHybrid role based out of Alexandria, VA office, requiring 2‑3 days per week on‑site for employee onboarding, HR Helpdesk coverage, and supporting other operational needs. Focuses on developing strong technical and administrative HR skills.
Essential Job FunctionsSupports core HR operations including onboarding, compliance processing, leave administration, and general HR support.
Required Skills- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree required (field of study flexible).
- 2‑3 years HR experience required; internship or administrative experience helpful but not necessary.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to process high‑volume administrative work accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to speak comfortably and confidently on the phone with employees, managers, and external partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks and goals.
- Customer‑service oriented with the ability to assist employees professionally and courteously.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn HR processes, HR systems, and compliance requirements, especially those common in government contracting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn UKG, E‑Verify, or similar HR platforms with training.
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks and administrative responsibilities as part of building a strong HR foundation.
- Interest in building a long‑term HR career in a government contracting environment strongly preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (e.g., moving files or onboarding materials).
- Must be able to access and navigate various departments and work spaces in the facility.
