We are seeking a dynamic, well‑organized, and highly motivated Facility Security Officer (FSO) (60% time) with prior relevant experience to also work as HR Specialist (40% time). This dual role is critical in supporting both our human resources and security teams. This position requires presence in the Springfield, VA office twice a week.
FSOKey Responsibilities
- Implement the industrial security program and ensure company and customer security requirements are met.
- Conduct security self‑inspections, apply risk‑mitigation methodologies, support customer assessments, and implement security measures to meet requirements.
- DISS Management – ensure the DISS is updated, process VARs, submit CSRs as needed, and start investigations.
- Visits and meetings – manage all processes and procedures ensuring the protection of classified information to prevent loss or compromise.
- Security Incidents – manage investigation and reporting in accordance with DCSA and sponsor requirements.
- Security Awareness Training & Education – provide security trainings and briefings to all employees commensurate with their level of involvement with classified material.
- Accurately review, respond to, and process all security paperwork for accuracy, completion, compliance, and submission through various systems.
- Review DD254s for accuracy and completeness of information to ensure compliance with specific programs; request feedback, clarification, and changes as needed.
- Self‑motivated candidate capable of working independently or in a team environment with minimal direction.
- 7+ years of FSO experience.
- Knowledge of security clearance processes and government security regulations (NISP, etc.) and ability to manage special access programs.
- Understanding of security databases such as DISS, eQIP, NISS, etc.
- Top Secret Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition coordination, onboarding and offboarding, and new‑hire orientation.
- Support the organization’s performance management process; assist with administration of performance reviews and documentation.
- Partner with the HR Director to assess training needs, implement professional development initiatives, coordinate internal and external learning resources, track training completion, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee benefit inquiries; support benefits enrollment and changes; work closely with ADP Benefits Coordinator.
- Work closely with the HR Director to support salary benchmarking, job evaluations, pay‑range alignment, and compensation adjustments.
- Support the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture, employee morale, and retention.
- Collaborate with the HR Director to implement engagement surveys, recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and communication strategies.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies in HR.
- Foster a positive, high‑performing workplace culture.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive human resources experience, supporting multiple HR functions including performance management, compensation, benefits, training, employee engagement, and employee lifecycle administration.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with senior HR leadership, recruiting teams, and finance to support organizational goals and ensure operational alignment.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and process improvement.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and related HR tools.
