Overview

Sage Hotel Management is seeking an experienced Night Auditor for the Morrison House Hotel in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities
  • Audit, balance and report on all food and beverage outlets (e.g., restaurants, lounges, banquets, room service) cash and credit operations, including checks, over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, postings, etc., and reset all registers to ensure accurate, timely information.
  • Audit, balance, post and report on the front desk to include room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, deposits, etc., to ensure accuracy and verify proper cash handling procedures.
  • Audit, balance and prepare, verify and report on room information to provide rooms management with insights into performance; prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for daily reports.
  • Balance and close all bank ticket codes daily.
  • Run night audit final after ensuring all revenues are in balance nightly.
  • Greet and complete established check-in procedures for arriving guests using manual and computerized methods to ensure guest satisfaction and rooms as requested.
  • Facilitate guest departure (check-out) to close guest accounts and ready the room for the next sale.
  • Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions and responding to questions and concerns with timely, knowledgeable responses, in person and by telephone.
  • Operate the PBX equipment by handling incoming calls, assisting with outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls and paging guests to provide timely and efficient service.
  • Perform the duties of a Front Desk Clerk including express checkouts.
Education / Formal Training

High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience

Accounting background preferred, but not required.

Knowledge / Skills
  • Ability to operate personal computer, cash register and calculator.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Telephone and guest relations etiquette and skills.
  • Moderate hearing required to communicate with guests.
  • Excellent vision for viewing CRT screens.
  • Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate with guests over the telephone.
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy for reading daily reports and numbers.

  • 90% of shift is standing; bending/kneeling required while filing.
  • Mobility to reach all areas of the hotel to assist guests.
  • Prolonged standing.
  • Occasional carrying and lifting of files and office items up to 25 lbs.
Environment

Prolonged standing at a indoors, climate-controlled work station under fluorescent lighting. Work inside 95% of the time.
