Overview
Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a full-time Radiation Therapist 1 to join the team. This position is full-time (40 hours) scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. We offer competitive pay based on experience;

- The Radiation Therapist 1 communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors and outside contacts.
- Responsible for treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set-up and administer treatments on a daily basis.
- Verifies the proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines.
- Performs simulation procedures for initial patient set-up while verifying proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines.
- Positions all patients for initial treatment to verify set-up;
Verifies beam directional devices, ancillary aids and blocking via record and verification systems on machines and patients' computerized treatment plans before initiation of radiation beam;
Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required. - Ensures that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals. Recognizes the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing simulation/portal films or patient positions;
Performs daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulator and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters. Records findings and reports erratic operations of equipment. - May perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education
:
Associate degree required upon start - Certifications:
- American Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy or registry eligible within one year of employment
- Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
- Associates/Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy
- Completion of Radiation program
