Position: Radiation Therapist 1

Overview

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a full-time Radiation Therapist 1 to join the team. This position is full-time (40 hours) scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. We offer competitive pay based on experience;

Responsibilities
  • The Radiation Therapist 1 communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • Responsible for treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set-up and administer treatments on a daily basis.
  • Verifies the proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines.
  • Performs simulation procedures for initial patient set-up while verifying proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines.
  • Positions all patients for initial treatment to verify set-up;
    Verifies beam directional devices, ancillary aids and blocking via record and verification systems on machines and patients' computerized treatment plans before initiation of radiation beam;
    Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required.
  • Ensures that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals. Recognizes the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing simulation/portal films or patient positions;
    Performs daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulator and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters. Records findings and reports erratic operations of equipment.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education
    :
    Associate degree required upon start
  • Certifications:
    • American Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy or registry eligible within one year of employment
    • Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
Preferred Requirements
  • Associates/Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy
  • Completion of Radiation program
