Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital Palliative Medicine is seeking a full‑time Palliative Care Clinical Therapist to join our outstanding team. Work with our patients, their families and doctors to address patient/family goals. Assess and ensure goal‑concordant care.
Behavioral Health Therapist IJob Responsibilities
- Provides a range of mental health and/or substance use disorders therapeutic interventions, psycho‑educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
- May participate in inpatient and community psycho educational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life‑limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach.
- Duties will be performed under the clinical supervision of an approved clinical supervisor.
- Education:
Master’s degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health‑related field. - Experience:
Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment. - Certification:
Basic Life Support within 3 months. CPI in‑person training for non‑violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire. - Licensure:
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) within 5 years. Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title identified by the specific licensing board within 4 months of hire.
- Experience working in groups as a therapist.
- A background in CBT, DBT, trauma‑informed practice, creative arts therapy, or substance use treatment is highly desirable.
