Overview
The Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD (R&E)) serves as the primary advisor to Department of Defense leadership on all matters pertaining to the Department's Research and Engineering enterprise. The Assistant Director, Plans and Programs, plays a crucial role within the Business Operations Directorate at this Office offering essential support to the Director and Deputy Director for Resources and Analysis.

DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY FOR CERTAIN PERSONNEL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IN 5 U.S.C. § 9905

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 9905 of title 5, U.S. Code, authorizes the Secretary of Defense to appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service in the DoD without regard to 5 U.S.C., chapter 33, subchapter I, other than sections 3303 and 3328. As a matter of policy, sections 3321 and 3323 of title 5, U.S. Code, chapter 33, subchapter I, and corresponding Code of Federal Regulations provisions will continue to apply.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

- Total salary varies depending on location of position
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period

- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

- This is a Financial Management Level 3 Certified position.
- Situational telework may be authorized and is subject to the express approval of the supervisor for weather and safety purposes only.
- May be required to complete a 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
