Today, Sonar is used by +7M developers and 400K organizations worldwide, including the DoD, Microsoft, NASA, Master Card, Siemens, and T‑Mobile.
At Sonar, we’re a group of brilliant, motivated, and driven professionals working hard to help supercharge developers to build better, faster. We have a dynamic culture with employees worldwide and hub offices in the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, and Germany. Team members should be able to come to work every day, work on a product they are proud of, love what they do, and feel energized by their peers.
With our roots deep in the open source community, we’re all about the mission: supercharge developers to build better, faster.
We are seeking a highly motivated Finance Director to join our FP&A team. This critical role will be responsible for overseeing various aspects within FP&A, including long‑range planning, business analytics, and business partnership.
What You Will Do Daily- Strategic Business Partnering & Execution
- Serve as the primary financial advisor to the R&D and G&A executive leaders
- Act as a senior “player” — building complex, scalable financial models from scratch while translating R&D and G&A roadmaps back to the Corporate Long‑Range Plan (LRP)
- Drive the annual planning and monthly forecasting cycles for all R&D and G&A functions, providing executive‑level variance analysis and actionable insights directly to the C‑suite
- Develop and maintain complex financial models across all lines of the P&L to support strategic initiatives, new business opportunities, and scenario planning
- Support BOD, Investor, Executive‑ready presentations, succinctly delivering key messages, and providing in‑depth supporting details
- Own the financial strategy for a geographically distributed organization, optimizing headcount planning/hiring ratios
- Partner with Accounting and Engineering to track, model, and forecast software capitalization
- Lead the Cloud Fin Ops strategy, building frameworks to forecast, optimise, and map LLM/AWS/GCP/Azure costs to product unit economics
- Provide analytical oversight for a high‑volume G&A environment (IT, Facilities, Legal, HR), identifying operating leverage opportunities to ensure OPEX scales slower than revenue
- Streamline the PR approval and vendor management workflows, while maintaining strict spend control
- Lead, mentor, and orchestrate the day‑to‑day priorities of shared FP&A analysts through dotted‑line relationships. Drive execution and high‑quality output through influence rather than direct reporting authority
- Roll up your sleeves as the business lead for R&D/G&A during our system migration. Lead the evolution of our FP&A capabilities by driving initiatives to enhance automation, efficiency, and data‑driven insights within the finance function
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, preferably with significant time spent in a high‑growth SaaS or tech environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
- Expert‑level financial modeling skills with the ability to build sophisticated, flexible, and accurate models from the ground up
- Proven ability to communicate and present complex financial concepts and recommendations clearly to executive‑level stakeholders
- Deep expertise across core FP&A functions, including corporate finance, strategic planning, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Technical depth: deep understanding of software capitalization rules, cloud infrastructure economics, and complex headcount…
