CAD Draftsman (Electrical)

Location: Lenexa, KS
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Schedule: Onsite 4 days/week | 1 remote day

An established electrical contractor is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Draftsman to support electrical design and construction projects. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality technical drawings that translate design concepts into complete project documentation. The ideal candidate has strong electrical drafting experience and works effectively both independently and in collaboration with engineers and architects.

• Develop complete electrical project drawings from conceptual designs using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM software
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to gather design criteria, calculations, and structural requirements
• Review and revise drawings based on project team feedback, ensuring all updates are accurately documented
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and regulations
• Maintain organized, up-to-date drawing files and project documentation
• Assist with material takeoffs and cost estimates
• Conduct occasional site visits to verify field conditions and measurements
• Uphold high standards of quality, professionalism, and teamwork

• Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in electrical drafting and design
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with industry regulations and building codes
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and time-management abilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
