Electrical Engineer / Estimator (TA Lead)
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Estimator to join our growing Cost Engineering department. This role is ideal for a dynamic electrical engineering or construction professional looking to apply their technical expertise and field knowledge in full lifecycle design and preconstruction projects. You will play a key role on the team, delivering both Design‑Build (DB) and Design‑Bid‑Build (DBB) projects across multiple sectors, translating electrical designs into accurate cost estimates and collaborating with project teams to support high‑impact federal projects.
This position requires authorization to work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates in-house using estimating software and programs for DB and DBB projects based on conceptual, schematic, design development, drawings, and construction documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low‑voltage, and grounding systems.
- Meet with clients, engineers, and designers to discuss electrical cost implications, assumptions, and justifications.
- Provide technical reviews of electrical system constructability, design coordination, and value engineering opportunities.
- Execute electrical change order analyses, pricing reviews, and scope evaluations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience preparing electrical cost estimates and performing electrical takeoffs.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Experience with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, Trimble, OST, Plan Swift, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with RSMeans or other industry cost databases.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Detail‑oriented and proactive with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification.
- Experience on design‑build teams for commercial, industrial, or federal construction projects.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies.
