What we are looking for: We are seeking an Audio Production Specialist to develop, produce, and distribute high-quality audio content in support of government communications and public engagement efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong storytelling skills, on-air presence, and technical audio production expertise, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling content for broad audiences. This role works closely with government communications and multimedia teams to deliver accurate, engaging audio products across multiple platforms.

What

you will do as a Audio Production Specialist
  • Conceive, develop, write, and produce audio content across a range of formats, including segments, programs, series, and podcasts focused on research and science-related topics.
  • Coordinate, conduct, and record interviews with researchers, subject matter experts, and other guests.
  • Write, report, narrate, and host audio segments and podcasts.
  • Edit audio content, including spoken word, natural sound, music, and sound effects, into polished audio packages, segments, and podcasts.
  • Produce and support distribution of audio content across appropriate platforms; notify media outlets and distribution partners of content availability.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, media, and research community related to produced audio content in coordination with government communications teams.
  • Produce a recurring weekly video and audio podcast, including identifying and researching topics and guests, securing approvals, and delivering both audio-only and video versions.
  • Write, voice, and edit promotional audio features in multiple lengths, including music selection and integration.
  • Coordinate review, clearance, and approvals with principal investigators and directorates prior to distribution.
  • Support distribution to media stations and internal stakeholders and help maintain relationships with distribution partners and stations.
  • Collaborate closely with communications, multimedia, and public affairs teams to ensure content accuracy, quality, and alignment with messaging goals.
Qualifications
  • US Citizen (the nature of our contract requires employees be US citizens)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an audio producer.
  • Experience conceiving, developing, and producing audio segments, programs, or series at varying levels of complexity.
  • Strong scriptwriting skills across multiple audio styles and formats.
