Program OverviewRIVA Solutions supports the National Science Foundation’s Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA) by delivering high-quality writing, editing, and content development services that communicate complex scientific topics to diverse audiences. This work spans speeches, congressional testimony, web content, printed publications, digital campaigns, scripts, and multi-channel communication products that advance NSF’s mission and scientific impact.
RIVA’s support ensures that OLPA maintains clear, accurate, accessible, and compelling messaging aligned with federal communication standards, including the Plain Writing Act and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Position OverviewRIVA Solutions is seeking a Graphic Designer to support OLPA’s digital and print communications. This role focuses on creating visually compelling materials that translate complex scientific and policy content into clear, engaging visuals for diverse audiences, including Congress, media, and the public.
Core Responsibilities- Design graphics and layouts for print and digital media
- Develop and edit PowerPoint presentations and visual decks
- Create graphics for press releases, media kits, and publications
- Design infographics and data visualizations
- Develop visuals for conferences, exhibits, and events
- Create graphics and animations to support video and digital storytelling
- Produce original illustrations (digital, traditional, or 3D)
- Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility standards
- Adhere to NSF branding and visual identity guidelines
- Collaborate with writers, editors, and subject-matter experts
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Professional experience producing graphic design for print and digital platforms
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
- Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience supporting federal agencies
- Experience with scientific or technical content
- Motion graphics or animation experience
Up to $90,000 per year, based on experience
