The Alexandria Area YMCA is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to provide transportation for YMCA programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring children arrive safely while maintaining a positive, supportive atmosphere that reflects YMCA values.

As a YMCA Bus Driver, you will:

• Safely operate the bus in accordance with YMCA policies and state laws
• Complete detailed pre‑ and post‑trip inspections
• Record mileage, gas levels, and maintenance information
• Maintain a clean and safe bus environment
• Ensure bus safety rules are clearly communicated and followed
• Keep first aid supplies stocked and accessible
• Respond appropriately in emergency situations
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members
• Provide additional program support as assigned

This role is about more than transportation — it’s about creating a safe and welcoming experience from the moment children step onto the bus.

• At least one year of bus driving experience preferred
• Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) appropriate for passenger transport
• Knowledge of laws and regulations related to commercial passenger vehicles
• CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
• Ability and desire to work with children
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Excellent safety awareness and sound judgment

• Ability to safely drive for extended periods
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards
• Commitment to maintaining high safety standards at all times
