Job Summary And Qualifications The Nurse Manager of Trauma and Progressive Care will be in charge of the daily operations in providing care to trauma patients; manage the provision of adequate and competent staffing; address any issues that affect desired patient outcomes; ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements; monitor and adhere to annual hospital operating budget; implement cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions;

assist staff in providing patient care and services as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to RRMC values – ICARE.
  • Conduct reinforces and reflects RRMC’s values and promotes the Code of Conduct. Meets the leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance program. This includes demonstrating and understanding of and adhering to the Code of Conduct.
  • The Quality of service provided by the department is very good as indicated by a combination of information available through customer surveys, professional standards, accrediting agencies, governmental standards, informal feedback, employee surveys, and direct observation.
  • Coordinate and integrate interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide the services of the department.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department employees.
  • Continuously assess and improve the performance of services provided by the department.
  • Maintain quality control programs, as appropriate.
  • Orient and provide in-service training and continuing education to all department employees.
  • Recommend space and other resources needed by the department.
  • Participate in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or the medical center.
  • Monitor quality outcomes and recommend improvements in performance relative to the following safety issues:
  • Ensure adequate and competent nursing staff service and nursing leadership at all levels.
  • Accurate labeling of diagnostic studies including radiographs, laboratory specimens, or other diagnostic studies.
  • Meets the leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance Program.
  • Demonstrates adherence to principles of safety and infection control and reporting requirements for both.
Qualifications

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school; BSN required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS to be completed within 180 days of hire.

Experience

  • 5 years’ Critical Care experience preferred.
  • 5 years’ previous Management experience preferred.
