Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit at Rapides Regional Medical Center serves as the leader of the nursing care team, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient‑focused, outcome‑oriented care for neonates, adolescents, and adults.
Responsibilities- Lead the nursing care team, ensuring patient assessment and care planning.
- Conduct comprehensive physical, nutritional, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural assessments.
- Develop and communicate patient care plans and interventions.
- Provide patient and family health education and promote healthy behaviors.
- Monitor patient progress, reassess outcomes, and document care activities.
- Coordinate care activities through collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Accurately execute physician orders and clarify when necessary.
- Communicate adverse or sudden changes to the healthcare team promptly.
- Identify potential abuse victims and report using proper mechanisms.
- Assess pain, involve patients in pain management, and report adverse drug reactions.
- Administer blood and blood products, monitor for transfusion reactions, and manage reactions.
- Utilize patient care equipment safely per hospital policies.
- Promote and follow standard precautions, infection control principles, and patient safety.
- Achieve stated performance goals and attend required educational programs.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and fetal monitoring, and assist physicians with procedures in Labor and Delivery.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Neonate Resuscitation certification within 60 months of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse diploma or Registered Nurse Graduate or Graduate Nurse.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support or CPR for Healthcare Providers within 30 days of employment start date.
- Shift: Days, rotating weekends.
