Position: Lead Dental Hygienist >>>

The Lead Dental Hygienist consults with physicians, dentist, nurses, nutritionists, and social workers to ensure that dental services are provided to HIV+ individuals as part of total patient care. The Lead Dental Hygienist also assists in scheduling patient visits, gathering and analyzing data for grant projects, as well as providing education on Oral Health to HIV patients and affiliated service providers in the community.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others of diverse education and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish priorities, exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and integrity in the performance of all duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects simultaneously in a busy clinic atmosphere.
  • Ability to successfully meet established project deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals within the University as well as with community partners.

    Education and/or Experience
  • Current Louisiana license to practice Dental Hygiene.
  • Three (3) years’ professional experience performing dental hygiene.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Dentrix & Dexis Software.
  • Proficiency with Panoramic and Nomad x-ray units.
  • Proficiency with computers and digital dental equipment.
  • Local anesthesia certification/proficiency.
  • Compensation Information
