SummaryOf Responsibilities
- Maintains automotive vehicles and equipment by repairing, adjusting or replacing batteries, performing tune‑ups, replacing and adjusting head and tail lights, checking fluids and lubricants, changing filters and belts, changing, repairing and rotating tires, and checking tire pressure.
- Operates tools and machinery in the repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles and equipment.
- Inspects and analyzes automotive vehicles and equipment for repairs and service.
- Mechanic experience
- Automotive and truck repair experience

Education:
High school graduate.
Experience, training, or skills:
Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.
Substitute education for experience:
Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Substitute experience for education:
None.
Special requirements:
Must be 18 years of age, possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and furnish a Class A commercial driver's license within six months of employment. Must maintain required licences, certifications, or other credentials for the duration of employment.
Incumbents work in a repair facility or field setting.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of six months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
