Staff Accountant - Construction Operations (Full-Time)

Location:Knoxville, TN (Hybrid / Office-Based)

Staff Accountant
to manage financial records, support accounting processes, and collaborate with leadership to ensure accuracy and efficiency across the organization.

This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a deadline‑driven environment, communicates effectively, and works collaboratively to support company goals and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial records in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Monitor transactions and accounts to ensure payments are current and processed efficiently
  • Review and approve expense coding and bill pay transactions
  • Reconcile and resolve monthly account issues
  • Review credit card downloads and account coding for accuracy
  • Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries
  • Prepare commission statements and initial payroll registers
  • Monitor employee receipt matching and expense documentation
  • Assist with year‑end 1099 processing and tax packages
  • Support monthly and annual budgeting processes
  • Review and manage AP specialist work to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Controller/CFO with financial reporting and special projects
  • Handle ad hoc accounting and financial projects as needed
Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of accounting or financial operations experience
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial record keeping
  • Experience with AR, AP, reconciliations, and general ledger processes
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Preferred
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in construction or project‑based accounting environments
  • Experience supporting payroll processes or commission reporting
  • Experience working with ERP or construction management software
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
