This is an unclassified at-will position.

AQUATICS AIDE - Hourly Rate $13.00

Perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of assigned area to include assisting with cashiering, basic sorting, filing and/or copying; assist with the instruction of aquatic swimming and safety courses; and assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatics facility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Requirements for Aquatics Aide

Must be at least 16 years old. Applicants 15 years of age may be eligible for the entry level position with a required work permit. Office and/or clerical support experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid water attraction lifeguard certificate or swim lesson instructor certificate if teaching swimming lessons within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Cash Handling certification from the City of Albuquerque within three (3) months from date of hire.
LIFEGUARD/SWIM INSTRUCTOR - Hourly Rate $13.50

Monitor activities in City swimming areas; prevent accidents and provide customer service and assistance to swimmers while keeping a safe aquatic environment; rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid as needed; assist with the instruction of aquatic swimming and safety courses and assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the swimming facility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Requirements for Lifeguard Instructor

Must be at least 15 years old. Applicants 15 years of age may be eligible for the entry level position with a required work permit.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid CPR, first aid and lifeguard certificate.
HEAD LIFEGUARD - Hourly Rate $15.00

Lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for ensuring safety at City swimming pools; instruct swimming, lifesaving and safety courses; assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the swimming facility and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Requirements for Head Lifeguard

Must be at least 18 years old. Three (3) seasons (Summer, Spring, Fall and/or Winter) as a lifeguard. Supervisor and/or lead experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid CPR, first aid and lifeguard certificate.
POOL SUPERVISOR - Hourly Rate $16.50

Supervise employees at an assigned City swimming facility; maintain facility according to State, City and department regulations; assist in public relations.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Requirements for Pool Supervisor

Three (3) seasons (Summer, Spring, Fall and/or Winter) of aquatic program experience. Supervisor and/or lead experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Possession of a valid CPR, first aid and lifeguard certificate.
  • Possession of a valid CPR instructor, first aid instructor and lifeguard instructor certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Certified Pool Operator's certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Cash Handling certification from the City of Albuquerque within six (6) months from date of hire.

Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to computers. Pool environment; exposure to heat, potentially hazardous chemicals, inclement weather conditions, work in or with water, work on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods.
